LOCAL Collaborates with the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary for On-site Scrap Metal Clean Up
In a collaborative effort aimed at addressing the unique challenges posed by scale upgrades at the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary (RDKB) facility, LOCAL stepped in as the key partner for a crucial on-site scrap metal clean up operation. A logistical constraint emerged when the McKelvey Creek Landfill found itself unable to accommodate bin traffic from LOCAL. Consequently, a substantial accumulation of light-to-heavy gauge metallic materials occurred at the landfill, necessitating immediate action for removal and recycling.
To overcome this challenge and efficiently manage the accumulated scrap metal, LOCAL promptly mobilized its mobile magnet to the McKelvey Creek Landfill. This equipment was deployed to load out the amassed scrap metal into end dump trucks. Once loaded, these end dump trucks were dispatched to transport the scrap metal back to LOCAL’s metal recycling facility.
By taking quick action to address the accumulation of scrap metal, they not only alleviated the logistical burden faced by the landfill but also contributed to the recycling of valuable resources, ultimately reducing waste and minimizing the environmental impact of the materials involved.
This project underscores LOCAL’s dedication to efficient project execution, eco-friendly practices, and their role as a dependable partner in addressing unique challenges within the waste management industry.
